Helen and Holly have been busy bees this month. Sorry for the delay in posting our latest and greatest reads. On that note, we have been asked to share some easy reads and guilty pleasures to offset our “highbrow” picks in preparation for our pilgrimage to The Charleston Literary Festival next week.
Helen says:
I have very much enjoyed Elin Hilderbrand’s The Academy and her sequel The Thoroughbreds. These books are a fun peek at modern day boarding school life and all the drama that ensues…Hilderbrand cowrote them with her daughter…a recent graduate of St. George’s School. They have their finger on the pulse of preppy teen life in the Gen Z genre. I loved these books! Brain candy.
Holly says:
I love pulling out old cartoon books like Calvin and Hobbes, and especially Gary Larsen’s, The Far Side. These ingenious cartoons make me laugh every time.
