Holly and I get an opportunity to hear Tayari Jones at Charleston Literary Festival in November (see Tidbit). I am excited! Kin gave The Vanishing Half and The Color Purple vibes. It was really funny and I wasn’t expecting that. Her last book, An American Marriage, was very serious in tone. Her sense of humor was nice surprise! I loved this book and couldn’t put it down.

Excellent – my favorite book of the month. A beautiful story about life, friendship, relationships and experiences. You will love following the lives of Niecy and Annie – not a walk in the park for either of them but an absolutely mesmerizing story. Tayari Jones is a very talented writer – I can’t wait to read what she writes next. I would like to go back and read An American Marriage.
