February 2024 Tidbit

Dear Reader- Are you at home with bated breath wondering what we have been up to? We have been “wintering” in New Hanover County, NC….and watching a lot stories on TV.

Helen says:

Besides my usual reading for our blog, I have been enjoying some other books and shows. My friend Jean turned me on the podcast Dunne and Done. It details the life of the writer Dominick Dunne and explores true crime scandals of the rich and famous. I was particularly taken with the Truman Capote section. Dominick Dunne and Truman Capote despised each other….It led me to listening to a free reading of Capote’s novella Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Audible. It is very short and let me tell you that it is A LOT raunchier than the movie!  Like the rest of the world, I am totally obsessed with Feud: Capote vs. the Swans on FX…Also, rather raunchy and riveting television with a star studded cast. Naomi Wats as Barbara "Babe" Paley, Tom Hollander as Truman Capote.

Holly says:

We watched Harlan Coben’s “Fool Me Once” and liked it – it was a little slow and quite confusing for the first few episodes, but the last two episodes were fantastic and really ended with a bang! Watch it. We are also watching “Love on the Spectrum” on Netflix. It is the sweetest and most heart-warming thing I have seen in a while – right up there with “All Creatures Great and Small” – not at all similar, but also feel good. I love them all, but Tanner, David and Abbey, and Connor hold special places in my heart.
