Happy Independence Day! We are feeling rather patriotic and want to share what we are up to this holiday.

Have you ever watched the show Nailed It on Netflix? It’s a hilarious baking show where people off the street get a set amount of time to recreate professionally made cake masterpieces. Maybe I can be on the next season. I have always wanted to do a Fourth of July Flag cake by Ina Garten. I pity the person that has to eat it- I am not a baker. Click here for the recipe. I think I will cheat and use cake mix and just do the frosting.

Going back to my roots this 4th of July and spending the day with family at Figure 8, something that I haven’t done since I was about 18 (with the exception of some kind invitations from friends over the years). So many fun family memories of parades, patriotic music blaring from the back of a jeep, grandparents, cousins, cold drinks from an icy cooler, fireworks and a salty, sandy, sun-burnt end to a great day. Looking forward to doing it again!
