Goodreads synopsis:
Bo is running out of time. Yet time is one of the few things he’s got left. These days, his quiet existence is broken up only by daily visits from his home care team. Fortunately, he still has his beloved elkhound Sixten to keep him company … though now his son, with whom Bo has had a rocky relationship, insists upon taking the dog away, claiming that Bo has grown too old to properly care for him. The threat of losing Sixten stirs up a whirlwind of emotion, leading Bo to take stock of his life, his relationships, and the imperfect way he’s expressed his love over the years.

If you like Fredrik Backman books, this one will definitely appeal to you. The storyline hits a little too close to home for me….art imitating life as my dad is in the same boat as Bo (main character)….This was just a sad, end of life book….He lived a very simple life…I think I expected more from his recollections…Quick read!!

A really beautifully written story – I loved it. Touching and sad, and seemingly very realistic portrayal of the end of life for an elderly gentleman. I cried. Bo and his trusty companion, Sixten, share a very special bond – you will not forget them. Reminiscent of A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman. All I can say is that the story is touching and lovely, and the writing is beautiful. Looking forward to Lisa Ridzen’s next book (this is her debut novel).
